Dear Parents,

I am so glad to be sharing this Christmas season with you, our precious SVAS families. This time of year is special. It is a time to remember that our lives were repurposed with the coming of a baby. A baby that would save us all by dying for our sins.
This last Saturday, Pastor Jan asked a question that made me think. What is the Nativity without the Baby Jesus? It is just a cave or a barn. What is Christmas without Christ? Its just more of the same. More greed, selfishness, and looking out for number one. But with Jesus this time of the year becomes the advent of our new life. With Christ in Christmas this becomes a wonderful opportunity to teach our children about a life well lived in service to others. As Jesus lived so shall we live.

What a great lesson for us to give to our children. There are so many things to worry about in this age. So many things that parents have to deal with today that my parents never had to worry about when I was a child. Christmas is a respite from that constant push from society. Christmas is always about More Christ. Putting Jesus in the manger is putting life in perspective.

So I leave you this season with the same message given to the shepherds so many years ago. Don’t be afraid. There is good news. There are glad tidings. There is great joy to you this day in the city of David.
Christ the Lord is here, God is with us.

Merry Christmas,
God Bless You,
In Deepest Gratitude,

Stephen Stokes
