Dear Parents,

In the November issue of e-School News, the lead article headlined this topic was entitled, “How Schools are Reimaging Learning Spaces.” In this article, it boiled the concept into these three ideas,

One, The leaders and teachers at schools should not be afraid to rethink what school should look like and what practices will work best for their students.

That schools use curriculums which free teachers from being the main source of instruction and allows them to try more alternative teaching methods like block scheduling, personalized learning, project-based learning and more.

Last, schools need to embrace change and realize it is a process. By adopting a growth mindset, schools and their leadership will be able to overcome any initial issues and then begin reaping the rewards of blended learning.

I hope you can see the same exciting direction that SVAS is headed. I believe that our school will become a model not only for private Christian education here in Simi Valley but all Southern California and even out to the North American Division of SDA Education. As a teaching staff we have taken up the purpose, and I am seeing exciting new avenues of education happening at each level. Please come by and visit us to see just how great we have it now and imagine with us just how amazing our future is going to be.

As soon as I hear about our grant money, I will inform our stakeholders. No news, for now, is good news. God has His time and ways, I trust in Him.

I would love to see all our families at this coming Thursday, February 16, event. SVAS will hold our annual Valentine’s Banquet in our gym at 7 p.m. We will have delicious food and great fun. These activities are great steps to making the families in our school and church closer. I know you will enjoy yourselves and have a nice meal.

Some of you have asked for a copy of our TAX ID. I have it in the office for those that need it or a copy of our W-9

A few new things for your calendar.

This Thursday, the 16th, is also World Read A Loud Day. In this issue, I have attached some reading suggestions to make this day special at home. We are planning some fun events to commemorate at school If you want to help, let your teacher know you can come in and read to the students. Our reading event will be a great me to start thinking about the Read A Thon in March! More details later!

Feb 21, we will have a large dumpster container on campus due to a large amount of big and unusable items that need to disappear from our campus. Our dumpster will be an “anything” container. If you have me to help us load call Simone and schedule a time for your assistance.

In Gratitude,

Stephen Stokes
Principal
