Dear Parents,

How is January going for you? We are half way through the month and in full swing here at the school. We are entering a very active phase for our school and we will need your continued involvement in our daily lives here at school.
In a recent article on parent involvement, I was fascinated to read that parent involvement in school was significantly associated with lower rates of high school dropout, increased on-time high school completion, and highest grade completed. This study suggests that parent involvement in elementary school is an important component in early childhood education to help promote long-term effects. All your work with your child now has a lasting impact! Please find ways to be an integral part of your child’s daily school life.

Our Read-A-Thon is off and running! We have had several student bring in significant donations.

Our webpage simivalleyadventistschool.com has a special button that will take you directly to the donation site where anyone can send money using our coding system, to the school and have it ascribed to your child. Don’t forget, in making a donation please use the code RAT followed by your child’s initials and their grade level. My son in 8th grade would be RATBS8. IF you have any questions, please ask Dana Yin or Josie Hirsch and they will answer all your questions. The money raised is going to help with giving our students much better usage of our technology in the classrooms.

This Thursday January 25 we have a drama coach coming on campus to provide students grades 1 through 8 with a chance to do a short drama workshop. After this introduction, you will have the opportunity to sign up for an afterschool opportunity. She will be providing a two day a week drama class. Details are on a separate page but I know each of our students will enjoy the workshop.

Congratulations to our 678 Puppet Ministries group that presented the children’s story at Simi Valley SDA worship this last Sabbath. We should have several more stories in the works and ready to produce a great show.
The Bell Choir will be performing on February 3 for the worship hour, please come and enjoy!

With great expectations I am glad to announce the formal dates of February 1,2, and 3 as the official dates when the Vice President of Education for the North American Division, Dr. Larry Blackmer will be visiting our school. He will tour the school, meet with our board, discuss our plans with our staff and have a full indoctrination as to what Simi Valley Adventist School is trying to do. On Friday, February 2 at 11:00 AM we will have an encore performance of our Messiah for Young Voice by Handel. All are invited to attend this repeat performance. Students will be in full robes and our soloists and narrators will be asked to dress up once again. Lets show Dr. Blackmer just how good we are!

Kindergarten will be celebrating our school’s 100 days with games and fun on Wednesday Jan 31. Ask Mrs. Odell if you can help.

God has blessed us with so many wonderful things, I will have a full report on our habitat which is undergoing a full facelift. We have several upgrades in the school and more is happening each day. Please pray that more families will become aware that our school is a haven for their children. Greet all our visitors when you see them with the warmth and grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

God Bless each of you. Stay warm.

In Gratitude,

Stephen Stokes
Principal
