The first 4 weeks are in the books! Can I breathe now? That was an epic start to a school year. We have been to the beach, had a vacation, open house, a room dedication, and grandparents luncheon! All while bringing in our newest member to the SVAS family, Mrs. Violet Ferguson-Edwards. We officially welcome her as she is now on payroll. What a blessing she is to our growing school.
This week our grades 3-8 will be taking the yearly standardized tests known as the ITBS, Iowa Tests of Basic Skillls. Please make sure all the students get a great night of sleep and a good breakfast in the morning. These test help the teachers to see what skills to focus on as we move into the regular flow of the year. The test schedule will conclude this week. Scores will be available at the parent teacher conferences in October.
Parents often ask what might be the best thing for their children to do after school hours. I would say it is reading. Learning to love reading, creating a lifelong hobby of reading, and finding out how wonderful reading can be for your soul are just a few of the wonders that can come from digging into a good book each night. Go to the library, head out and get a good book at the local bookstore, discover the uncovered goodies at the used book area in any thrift store.
READ READ READ!
Continue to pray for our developing 100 Angel program. If you need literature to hand to someone you think might be an angel, I have some for you! Stop by and see the room or better yet, ask Mrs. Baker how you can help her move in!
God Bless as we enter week 5~
